VPSI Moves The World

Controller Jay Sumner

Jay SumnerBefore VPSI, I worked in the public accounting industry. During that time I studied and successfully passed the CPA exam. From public accounting, I went on to private industry. I held accounting/controllership positions in both the healthcare and manufacturing business segments. During this private industry stint, I completed my MBA in Finance at Wayne State University. Go Warriors!!!

I joined VPSI in April of 2002 as an Assistant Controller. It was very apparent to me during the interview process, that this opportunity was exactly what I was looking for in an accounting position. The blend of accounting, tax, customer service, and on-going interaction with VPSI's hard working field personnel really made the Assistant Controller position an attractive one. In addition, the company's super friendly culture and focus on improving the roadways through reduced traffic congestion and airways through reduced emissions, made the offer to join VPSI a dream come true.

I am very grateful for the opportunity to work with so many good people, not only within the VPSI and Vipre family, but with our customer and vendor base as well. I have the privilege of leading, along with VPSI's CFO Michelle Grassa, the Finance department. We are very fortunate to have an extremely capable and customer focused team. During my tenure thus far we've worked together to implement new systems, streamline processes, and with the help of many others, made the vanpooling experience a more pleasant one for our customers.

Today, as Controller, my focus as well as the Finance department as a whole, is to provide exemplary service to all field personnel as well as to our customer and vendor base, by listening to their needs, implementing changes that will benefit them, and by providing timely responses to their inquiries.

It has indeed been an enjoyable ride thus far at VPSI, one I wish to continue on into the foreseeable future.
